Overview

As Managed IT Solutions Engineer, you will be the primary technical and consultative point of contact for maritime customers worldwide. Reporting to the Director, Managed IT Services with a dotted line to the Regional Sales Manager, you will work with the Sales team translate complex vessel and fleet IT requirements into bespoke, deliverable solutions - spanning network design, hardware, and managed services - while partnering internally with sales, engineering, and operations teams to ensure seamless delivery.

Responsibilities

• Engage directly with channel partners, shipping companies, vessel operators, and fleet managers to understand and document IT and connectivity requirements.
• Design bespoke, fit-for-purpose IT solutions covering vessel networking (VSAT, LTE, Wi-Fi), onboard IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and managed IT services.
• Produce detailed technical proposals, scopes of work, and Bill of Materials (BoM) to support commercial quotes and customer sign-off.
• Act as the technical bridge between customers and internal teams (sales, engineering, operations, procurement) throughout project delivery lifecycle.
• Oversee and support the delivery and commissioning of IT solutions, providing on-site assistance or remote technical guidance as required.
• Contribute to product development by feeding back customer insights, solution gaps, and market trends to the Director of Managed Services.
• Support commercial opportunities by participating in customer meetings, RFP responses, technical presentations and trade shows alongside sales teams.
• Working closely with Sales Managers and attending meetings with them to promote IT services.
• Ensure all designs comply with maritime regulations, vendor standards, and internal quality/security frameworks.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of maritime IT trends, emerging technologies, and competitor offerings.
• Keep sales account manager(s) up to date with customers’ progress, changes, and upselling suggestions based on account activities.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with core IT infrastructure - such as Windows Server, Active Directory, virtualization platforms, Microsoft 365, endpoint management, and/or Windows/macOS desktop administrator.
• Hands-on experience designing LAN/WAN, routing, switching, and firewall solutions
• Demonstrated customer-facing or pre-sales technical experience

• Strong communicator comfortable working across cultures and time zones
• Proficiency in English (additional languages a plus)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience in maritime, offshore, transportation, or remote connectivity environments

• Understanding of maritime cybersecurity standards (BIMCO, IACS UR E26/E27)
• Relevant certifications (CompTIA A+, CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or vendor-specific)
• Exposure to MSP operations, ITSM frameworks, or managed services delivery
• Project management or solutions delivery experience
• Familiarity with bandwidth restricted or volume metered connectivity.

COMPETENCY PROFILE
• Technical curiosity - stays current with networking, cloud, and maritime tech developments and applies them practically.
• Customer empathy - listens actively, asks the right questions, and translates operational challenges into IT requirements.
• Solution thinking - balances technical precision with commercial pragmatism; builds the right solution, not just the perfect one.
• Delivery ownership - takes accountability from design through deployment; doesn't drop the thread when a project transitions.
• Global mindset - comfortable working remotely with colleagues and customers across different regions, time zones, regulations, and operational contexts.
